JayCro JayYoung'n Potential: Then & Now

Friday, November 13, 2009

I won't even waste your time with the Then portion of the download (you coulda kept that to yourself cuzzo) lol. Production on this tape is FIYA!! 5stars and kudos to the USR camp for hot beats as for content i gave an iTunes Rating for the Now portion based on songs as a whole 3.7 out of 5 stars. Cro has not reached his full lyrical potential in a sense of his flow being a little choppy and some parts, stale. He has yet to find 'his' voice. All great artists have that one pivotal moment where they realize what they need to do to succeed and this mixtape shows that JayCro Jay Young'n is well on his way to stardom. I reccommend that you download this tape and come to your own conclusion's about Jay's growth as an artist. I got dibbs on my copy, GET YOUR OWN!!!

King of R&B: R. Kelly??
Seriously, for 10 years, R. Kelly dominated R&B. I was only four when 12 play released but I Bump & Grind in the club whenever I hear it. I learned to Ballroom to Step in the Name of Love and my grandmother cried at my 5th grade graduation when my class sang I Believe I Can Fly. Hit after hit after smash after jam and then Trapped in the Closet 7 thru 900. I don't know maybe he getting old and outta touch, maybe the well is dry, maybe I expect too much out of a mere man who is an iconic legend in R&B. Apparently I'm not the only one that feels this way about such genius and muse going to waste. Trey Songz blatantly addresses Kellz' whackness with full force over JayZ's DOA track. Death of Kellz is a fitting title for the man that hasn't put out a decent Ballad since Chocolate Factory (2003). And it doesn't help that he's had two postponed albums (12 Play: 4th Quarter, Untitled) since going to court for kiddie porn. Give us something to change the subject bro. Post dated albums ain't gonna cut it!! (Zodiac, 2010)
By the way, I'm so disappointed in the mixtape, glad it wasn't made public. Get it together or I will have 1st Dibbs on the throne.

Are Boy Bands Over??

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

When R&B was booming in the 80s and 90s, the all-boy trio or quartet was the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Guy, New Edition, Bell Biv Devoe, Boyz II Men, Shai, Jodeci, Silk, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Next, Jagged Edge, Hi 5ive, 112, I could go on forever. Today we have...Day 26. And Thats about it. While new female groups like Elektric Red, Richgirl, and Sophia Fresh emerge regularly, their male counterparts have gone dormant. Maybe its the scare factor in a post-B2K world. Or maybe there's something corny about four grown men doing synchronized pirouettes. Or maybe the right combination of rugged and smooth R&B dudes hasn't come along. *cough*BSH*cough*. Whatever the case, this vital cog in the R&B machine has gone AWOL.

BangBang's BooBoo on RiRi

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

So Last month pics circulated the net with Rihanna's new Gun Tattoo under her armpit and I reported it here at Whas Really Good.com. Rihanna is back under the ink needle for something a little more aesthetic. The Barbados-born singer had a Sanskrit passage inked above her right hip - reading 'forgiveness, honesty, suppression and control' - but Sanskrit expert Mark Fielden claims it is 'incorrectly written'. LOL. Fail.

The tattoo – taken from the Hindu holy text of Gita - was designed by New York artist BangBang, who also inked Rihanna’s controversial gun design under her right armpit.

This is the very reason I am Tat-less at the moment. So many things come into play. It's not like getting your ears pierced, where you may remove the ring and your hole closes up. It's not buying a new shirt that you can return cuz its ugly or you only wanted to wear it to the party. This is the real deal. No Do-overs, No Tagbacks. The thing I dread the most about getting a tattoo is feeling an awkward pain; followed by an awry "oops."
WTF man, WTF. Best of luck to Rihanna doing the research next time; and to BangBang finding work.

Dibbs' Unsigned Hype--Young Scolla & S.Class

Lyrical academics, S.Class (Pittsburgh) and Young Scolla (Detroit), record their own version of the Rick Ross T-Pain Collabo. To be Honest, it goes just as hard as the original. Keep an eye out for these two in the future. In my opinion we need more regional collaborations like this one. It gives the music a certain Swag when two different dialects come together. All the hott records out today are Collabs between artists from different areas of the country. A representation of each. If more Detroit artists could learn to feature the artists from the next state instead of the rapper from next door, I think Detroit could end up back on top of the music game.

Lady Gaga and Flo Rida Rule the Charts

Friday, April 3, 2009

Lady GaGa has become the first artist of the new millennium to top the US charts with her first two singles. Her latest track 'Poker Face' climbed to the top spot after 15 weeks on the chart, adding to her number one hit 'Just Dance' in 2008. The last act in America to accomplish the feat of two debut number ones was Christina Aguilera with 'Genie In A Bottle' and 'What A Girl Wants' in 1999. Meanwhile, Lady GaGa – real name Stefani Germanotta – performed a show-stealing rendition of 'Poker Face' on American Idol on April 1.

After Flo Rida's debut smash hit "Low" featuring T-Pain stood atop the charts last year, many thought duplicating the same success would be an unlikely task for the rapid-fire styled rapper.
But the hits kept coming for the six-foot-three artist, who is a Florida native. He has held down the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the past five weeks with his first single "Right Round" featuring Kesha. The high-energy dance single has also sold almost two million in digital sales.
Even his second single, "Sugar" with Wynter Gordon is currently climbing the charts.
Now with his second disc "R.O.O.T.S.," out this week, Flo Rida hopes his pre-album release momentum can result into more commercial appeal.

Chris Brown Apology Live on Oprah!?!?!

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Pop star Rihanna has allegedly demanded that Chris Brown make an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show alongside her, and apologize to her publicly.
The Umbrella hitmaker, who was allegedly attacked by Brown and left her with horrific injuries, is reportedly in talks with media mogul Oprah Winfrey to make an appearance on her show.
Rihanna not only wants Brown to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show, but also make an apology on the show.
"Rihanna has been talking to Oprah Winfrey on a regular basis since late February, when Oprah begged her not to take Chris back. She’s been having second thoughts about them being back together. Agreeing to go on Oprah’s show and tell the world how sorry he is will help make up her mind,” Contactmusic quoted a source as telling Lokk magazine.
Winfrey’s people, however, have denied the reports.
Meanwhile, Brown has been released on a bail of 50,000 dollars until a hearing on Monday. Oh Damn!!

Destiny's Child Reunion

Destiny's Child to reunite and record one final album because Beyonce feels bad for leaving her two friends behind while she became a mega-superstar. Just kidding, they're still under contract to their record label.

StarPulse says the R&B superstars Destiny's Child are set to reunite to record one final album.
The multiple Grammy-winning group - comprising of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams - left fans heartbroken when they split in 2005.
Knowles has since carved out a highly successful career as a solo artist and actress, while Rowland and Williams have also released their own material.
But the Independent Women hitmakers are set to head back into the studio to complete one last record out of duty to their music label, according to internet reports.
A source says, "They still have another album they owe their label, Columbia Records, on their contract."
Destiny's Child's last album of new material, Destiny Fulfilled, was released in 2004 and their greatest hits disc, #1s, hit stores in 2005 before the group disbanded.

They should make a song about strong women, that provide for themselves.. Yeah, that'll be a hit!!

TwitterFull of Posers

Recently i found out R&B singerBrandy's Twitter account was a fake. So that got me thinking if it's that easy to just become a celeb and get followers who else is out here posing. Are the Tweeple really who they say they are?? I found this article on mtv.com on CelebTwitties that have hired ghost writers. What do you think about it?

The whole point of Twitter is that you get to constantly update everyone on your list about what you're doing in just a sentence or so. Plenty of artists have jumped on the bandwagon, from Mark Hoppus to to, unfortunately, TMI repeat offender John Mayer.
But according to The New York Times, what you see isn't always what it appears to be when you sign up for an artist's Twitter feed.
For instance, say you're one of the 200,000 people signed up for 50 Cent's feed, and you saw his eloquent March 1 post in which he opined, "My ambition leads me through a tunnel that never ends." Deep, right? But prompted the savvy businessman and beef-addicted rapper to write such a line? Apparently you'd have to ask "Broadway" (a.k.a. Chris Romero), the director of 50's Web empire, who tweeted the thoughtful comment after reading it in an interview.
"He doesn't actually use Twitter," Romero told the paper about his boss. "But the energy of it is all him." The energy, huh?
Apparently 50's not the only one with a ghost Twitterer. The paper reported that Britney Spears recently ran an ad looking for someone to tweet for her and update her Facebook page. Prodigious blogger Kanye West told New York magazine that he recently hired two people to help him keep up with his frequent posts.
One of Spears' former consultants, Joseph Nejman, who helped her ramp up her Web strategy, told the Times that he thought critics of the ghost posts were being hypocrites. "It's OK to tweet for a brand," he said, noting that many companies have Twitter accounts, "but not OK for a celebrity. But the truth is, they are a brand. What they are to the public is not always what they are behind the curtain. If the manager knows that better than the star, then they should do it."
In fact, over the past few months, Spears, whose account was hacked recently, has been very open about the ghostwriting, according to the Times. Whereas it used to appear that Spears wrote every post, lately the updates have been signed by "Adam Leber, manager" and "Lauren" (a.k.a. Lauren Kozak, social-media director of britneyspears.com).
Among the other bold-faced names mentioned in the article who have surrogate Twitterers are Web-savvy 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul and President Barack Obama, who both reportedly have staff members assigned to tweet on their behalf.
But some, like baller Shaquille O'Neal — who has a following of 430,000 — refuse to subcontract out their thoughts. "If I am going to speak, it will come from me," O'Neal said. "It's 140 characters. It's so few characters. If you need a ghostwriter for that, I feel sorry for you."

Andre 3000 miles per hour Arrested

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Sources indicate Fredrick Douglass... I mean Andre Benjamin -- aka Andre 3000 from the rap group Outkast -- was arrested in his home state of Georgia this weekend after he was nailed for doing 109 mph in a 65 mph zone. We're told Andre was taken to the Henry County Jail where he took a mugshot, posted $1,200 bail and was eventually released.
This isnt that big a deal to me... I'm more concerned with whether or not he was on his way to the studio to create another hit or if he was trying to get arrested to create some buzz about his new movie New York, I love You. He will play "Anthony"

BangBang: Rihanna's New Tattoo

Friday, March 27, 2009

Rihanna has acquired a controversial new piece of body art - the pop star has had a tattoo of a gun inked under her right arm.

The 21-year-old flew New York-based body artist BangBang to Los Angeles this week (beg23Mar09) to have the new design finished.

The singer originally wanted two handguns printed on the tops of her arms - but reportedly opted for a less visible tattoo so as not to jeopardise her modelling contract with Cover Girl Cosmetics.

BangBang has posted pictures of his day at Rihanna's L.A. home on his MySpace.com internet page - telling fans about his experience.

He writes, "I really wanted to put it here (on her arms)? She loved 'em. But, Cover Girl wouldn't have liked it much? and they pay the bills! Ended up doing it on her ribs."

BangBang has worked with Rihanna on several of her other tattoos - including the famous stars design on her back, lettering on her shoulder and hip, and the 'Shh...' stamp on her right index finger.

Ghetto Word of the Week

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

So i was watching Making the band yesterday and the funniest shit ever said on TV was brought back to my attention. Let me say this, Diddy is a clown. I dont know if he has writers puttin these words in his repetoire or what but this right here was the most hilarious thing ever on reality TV. Let me set up the scene. One of the members of Day 26 is cryin and whinin about a fight he had with his girl. Diddy subsequently calls a group meeting and call him out on this week's Ghetto Word. ENJOY!!

Note: doin something a lil different, instead of a picture here is a video clip of the incident..LMAO

1) Bitchassness

Term coined by Diddy on Making the Band. Overall stank actions towards others through words, facial expressions, and/or song.
symptoms include:
1. punkish tendencies
2. cattiness, such as talking behind someone's back
3. thinking highly of yourself, but only expressing it under your breath
4. claiming "hurt feelings" when you are called out on your bullshit

"Bitchassness is a disease...and it fucks shit up..." bitchassness???"-- Robert of Making the Band 4

Twitter Ends Relationships

"This heart didn't come with instructions," Twittered John Mayer, after Jennifer Aniston ended their relationship over the phone. The reason for the breakup? He twittered too much.
Apparently, John Mayer didn't have time to write or call or text, offering up the "I've been so busy with work" excuse when Aniston called him up. Unfortunately for the tech-obsessed Mayer, he had time to post Twitter updates.

Has Twitter finally completed the digital takeover. Celebs are hooked on the social site, connecting with fans. R&B singer Tyrese has over 1000 tweets at the time of this blog and his page has only been up a week. Twitter is slowly taking over lives and replacing the need for emotional support. Why have a girlfriend when one of your followers can tell you your hott and they're 20 minutes away. Tweet- Tweet all around the clock. Personally, I like Twitter. Just another phase in the digital realm. Remember the launch of BlackPlanet, the transition to Myspace, the migration of Facebook and now the Takeover of Twitter. Rihanna Sex Tape!!!

Friday, March 20, 2009

This day just keeps Getting BETTER!!!! AS if Rihanna doesn't have enough on her mind, she's now worried a "wild" sex tape of her with boyfriend Chris Brown will find its way onto the internet.

The Umbrella hitmaker, 21, reportedly allowed Brown, 19, to film them having sex - and is worried that the tapes could ruin her. American tabloid Star reports:

"Rihanna has no issues with her sexuality. "But she'd be mortified if her friends and family found this out! This whole beating incident is terribly humiliating for her. She's already traumatized and will do anything to make it all go away as quickly as possible."

admits she enjoys spicing up her sex life
by wearing her often revealing and
provocative costumes at home.
The reports comes amid claims Rihanna and Chris have split. Meanwhile, Los Angeles police put the brakes on a speedy getaway by Rihanna from a trendy Hollywood nightclub. Los Angeles police say they stopped Rihanna's sport utility vehicle early on Thursday on Hollywood Boulevard after noticing it didn't have a front licence plate. A department spokeswoman confirmed Rihanna was inside, but did not have details on the citation issued to her driver.

Video shot by celebrity website TMZ showed an officer giving the driver a ticket. The site also posted video of Umbrella singer coming in and out of the trendy Les Deux nightclub. The SUV is seen speeding away from the club, and later at the traffic stop. Paparazzi had assembled around the vehicle both times. The videos also show Rihanna wasn't sporting sunglasses, which she had been shown wearing in several photographs taken in Los Angeles and New York since boyfriend Chris Brown allegedly beat her in February. Police investigated the case and interviewed the 21-year-old singer, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Brown is scheduled for April 6 arraignment on felony assault and criminal threat charges.

New Cartoon: Kanye West

Kanye West might be at the top of the rap game (even though he doesn’t rap much anymore), but he’s going to play struggling rapper MC Kenny West in the “Family Guy” spinoff, “The Cleveland Show,” next year.

When the spinoff was announced, Kanye blogged about how excited he was to see it and “Family Guy” voice actor/executive producer Mike Henry told MTV the show’s creator Seth MacFarlane was even invited to Kanye’s house a year or two ago. It’s possible the rapper/pseudo singer was lobbying for a role on one of MacFarlane’s projects because when he finally landed the spot, the “Cleveland Show” team was amazed at how seriously he was taking his turn as a failed rapper.

“It was surprising to us that [he] was so into it that he came to the table [read], and wonderfully surprising how cool he was, how funny he was and how unassuming he was,” Henry said. “He’s just a great presence.”

Executive producer Richard Appel told MTV that Kanye was very humble about working as a voice actor and stayed true to the script, except for in one incidence: “Before we came to the table … there was only one line he didn’t love, and he came up with another idea and in a completely modest, nice way said, ‘Would you mind if I changed just this one line?’ ” “And our feeling was, how many raps have we written? One? And how many has he written? Be our guest!”

The episode will air next year, but Kanye told the producers he would be glad to do more than one episode. “I said we could write him in to the next 21 episodes!” Appel said.

Discounted Concerts?!?!

Rough economic times are forcing major artists to lower concert ticket prices. "I don't think anybody is looking around and going, 'Boy, I think I can sell out at $150 a ticket.' That's just not today's reality"

No one knows how the recession will affect concert business this summer, but several major acts are making sure that fans won't have to dig too deep to afford a ticket.
The Dave Matthews Band, Keith Urban, U2 and No Doubt already have announced they'll offer some bargain-priced tickets — in the $20-$30 range — for their tours, and it's likely that others will follow suit.
"They're creating lower price levels so that everybody will be able to come," says Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni. "I don't think anybody is looking around and going, 'Boy, I think I can sell out at $150 a ticket.' That's just not today's reality."
The prices are particularly good deals for acts who play mostly stadiums and arenas. Even Michael Jackson, who has sold out 50 shows at London's O2 Arena that i blooged about a few weeks ago, kept his prices in the $68-$103 range.
Prices tend to be adjusted to the times because acts don't want to play to empty seats, says Billboard touring editor Ray Waddell. According to Billboard Boxscore statistics, the average ticket price for a top 10 touring act in 2008 was $151.34.

I've never attended a real concert and unless ticket prices really drop i probably never will.

Houston native Beyoncé Knowles has landed in a coveted spot: on the cover of Vogue.
Gracing the April issue, the pop superstar is one of a handful of black celebrities to appear on the cover of the storied fashion magazine in its 117-year history. She is wearing a blue off-the-shoulder gown by Nicolas Ghesquière and De Beers diamond earrings. Her hair is slicked back, and she appears to have on minimal makeup.
She joins a short list that includes Oprah Winfrey (1998), Halle Berry (2002), Jennifer Hudson (2007), first lady Michelle Obama, who graced the current March cover, and LeBron James, who appeared in a controversial pose on the cover with supermodel Gisele Bundchen last April.

Though it’s a landmark for Vogue, Knowles is no stranger to fashion magazines. She most recently appeared on the January cover of Elle.
University of Mississippi journalism professor Samir Husni, author of Samir Husni’s Guide to Magazines, believes that skin color had little to do with the choice of Obama or Knowles for the Vogue cover.

“If you really think about it they all have one color: green, as in rich and famous, or just famous,” he wrote in an e-mail from Belgium.

Vogue spokesman Patrick O’Connell said both women were chosen for their accomplishments.

“It’s our annual shape issue, and Beyonce has arguably the best shape in the business. We’re thrilled to have her on the cover,” he said.
Knowles will kick off her world tour in Edmonton, Canada, on March 26. She is also promoting a movie, Obsessed, due for release April 24.

In an otherwise fawning profile, writer Jonathan Van Meter pans the new flick. “The best that can be said for this movie is that it is destined to become a camp classic,” he writes.

He also delves into the singer’s complicated relationship with her father and manager, Mathew Knowles. BeyoncĂ© told Van Meter she trusts her father because “he is up until 4 a.m. fighting and working and doing things that no one else would do.”
When asked if they argue, she responded, “It’s definitely tense. And if there’s one person in my life I argue with the most, it’s him. But it’s business. It’s always about business.”

The magazine appears on newsstands Tuesday.

FABOLOUS ft. DREAM

Well here's the latest from HipHop Update
Fab was talking about releasing this as the first single for "Loso's Way." Well, I guess he wasn't lying because I got ahold of the track via DJ Vee and HHNM. Unfortunately, I don't think it's completely mastered because the vocals are too low on Fabolous' end...Seems like if you want a hit record nowadays, you throw The Dream on there....Sorry T-Pain...snatch up those hooks while you still can...Check it out:

You may have noticed the music playing at the top of my profile...if not your either on a phone or your computer is really old and slow..j/k. This is my unsigned hype section. I believe in supporting your fellow man. Let's face it. Not everyone has SouljaBoy Success in promotions. So this section is for the artist who's having a hard time getting their music to the people. So my first featured artist is a duo that i have talked about a few times on my blog R&B sensations, J-Rock & Delay, The Twins. they really dont need a bio because they're on here so much. Artists sending mp3 or URL files will recieve full review of material and feedback on how to make your music better and praise if your track is hot. '09 is the time!!

showing balls or guts
boy that guy sure has some fuckin gumption

2.The common sense to stand up for what you're thinking. The verbalization of internal feelings without a sugar coating.
Do you possess the gumption that it takes to tell him how you feel?

3. The nerve, the balls, the audacity to do something rude, stupid, or immature.
I can't believe Matt and Sean had the gumption to barge in our house at 1:30am without knocking!

Chris Brown: 9 years in Prison

Photo:Franklin/FilmMagic

Chris Brown has been charged with two felonies stemming from his alleged February 8th attack on Rihanna, Us Weekly reports. Specifically, he is facing assault by means likely to create great bodily injury and a felony charge of making a criminal threat. Brown will be arraigned at 3:30 pm today in Los Angeles. Given the nature of the charges and the severity of Rihanna’s visible injuries, the 19-year-old R&B star could face up to nine years in prison.
A leaked police search warrant published by TMZ today appears to provide more details about the couple’s argument that spiraled into violence in the early-morning hours before the Grammy Awards. According to the LAPD detectives’ notes on the document, the dispute between Brown and Rihanna began after she discovered a lengthy text message from another woman on Brown’s phone while the two were traveling in Brown’s rented Lamborghini. As the two verbally argued, Brown allegedly tried to push Rihanna out of the vehicle, but she was buckled in, so instead he hit her head against the passenger window. While he was driving, he punched her in the face numerous times, bloodying Rihanna’s mouth.
“I’m going to beat the [expletive] out of you when we get home,” Brown reportedly said to Rihanna (TMZ edited the note, so it’s unclear what term Brown used). The “Umbrella” singer then called her assistant to say, “I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there.” Brown allegedly replied, “You just did the stupidest thing ever. I’m going to kill you.” That last comment is likely what resulted in the criminal threat charge.
News that Brown and Rihanna had reconciled and reunited shortly after the Barbadian singer’s 21st birthday have led many to speculate that she will refuse to testify against Brown. But even without Rihanna’s cooperation, crime-scene photos and her original statements to police will provide the district attorney with evidence to build a case. Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, is reportedly already exploring the possibility of a plea bargain.

1. Assclown

One, who, through the fault of his parents conception, is a skid mark in society's collective underwear.
You, my good sir, are an assclown.

2. Assclown

1. A person who, while under the influence, makes a complete fool of himself while attempting humor. An assclown may wear an asshat. 2. A person who, while making a serious attempt as something, fails to realize what a complete fool he has made of himself. 3. An untalented schmuck.

1. That assclown thought he was being funny when he pretended to choke at the party, but everyone thought he was just being foolish.

2. The actor, while in character, made such an assclown of himself during the production that most of the audience started to talk during his monologues.

3.That assclown can't play the guitar at all.

3. Assclown

A person who is laughable and detestable at the same time.Usually pretends to be a know-it-all, often enhancing their stories, knowledge, experience, and every thing in between with pure bullshit.
1-I can't help but laugh at the assclownishness of Johnny's story. I wanted to kick him in the teeth but couldn't because i was laughing so hard at him. 2-Every time I say something,my assclown co-worker butts-in with his "similar experience" or "knowledge" of the subject.

Joaquin Phoenix...Golden Globe to Grammy??

Monday, February 23, 2009

In a less than auspicious debut, Joaquin Phoenix, who recently announced that he was retiring from acting to focus full time on music, made his debut performance earlier this month with what was described as three barely comprehensible raps that he concluded by falling off the stage.
How did the audience respond?

There was a mixture of people clapping," said Mike Snedegar, the head of entertainment marketing at Lavo, the Las Vegas nightclub where Phoenix performed Jan. 9, "and some with weird looks on their faces like, 'What is going on?'"
It's a question entertainment industry watchers have been asking themselves since Phoenix made the surprise announcement in October that he was ditching the acting business for a career in music. Dueces!\-D Dibbs

THE KING of Pop IS BACK!!!

Probably Not in the USA tho.. Michael Jackson has been offerred 45 million pounds (UK money) to perform in London. Jackson, 50 years old, plans a string of 30 concerts on his comeback tour reportedly neting 1.5 million per night to perform in Greenwich. A concert of this magnitude is certaily a must see. fans from all over the world would pour in to see the King despite ticket prices nearing $1000 for VIP packs. The London arena is competing with US venues to secure Jackson on the bill, but it is believed that he would favour re-launching his career in Britain because he still enjoys huge popularity in Europe and they serve liquor in tots...lol.
The 30-night stint would eclipse the longest run of 21 shows which Prince performed at the O2 in 2007.

R.I.P. Chris Brown Career

Friday, February 20, 2009

In keeping with the theme of this blog; reporting the lastest music news:

This is the photo of Rihanna after the alleged beating given to her by, current boyfriend, Chris Brown released yesterday by TMZ Magazine. It will be up to the Los Angelos DA to determine whether or not Brown will be prosecuted with any additional charges. He is currently charged with "making criminal threats" a felony punishiable by up to 9 years in prison and out on bail. A "Domestic Violence" charge would only get him 4. His court date is scheduled for March 5th. You can certainly expect it to be a media circus. http://www.myspace.com/darryldibbs

WTF?? NY Post Calls OBAMA A MONKEY!!

New York Post Cartoonist, Sean Delonis, drew a controversial picture with a horrendous caption and his editor ran it thru the press. I try to be as neutral as possible on political issues. Most tend to be in that shady grey area; but this is Black & White in every sense of the term. While I understand most political cartoons are racy, I have never seen one as blatantly racist as this. They Reverand Al Sharpton has already started organizing a protest of the paper and had this to say, "The cartoon in today's New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that "Now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill."
"Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?
"

In Response the NY Post released this statement,"The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist."

*sniff*sniff* I can smell that BULLSHIT from Michigan. Don't try to pull the wool over our eyes, when america sees monkeys and two white cops shooting it with a caption that refers to a bill that many believe the President wrote himself, WTF do you think mainstream America is going to think of? Certainly not Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank. So isn't ther a possibility that it could have been construed in another way than which your representatives are stating? I'm all for freedom of speech, the man has a right to make his doodles but take some responsibility for your actions. The cartoon's caption was tasteless. I'm not even looking for an apology just admit your cartoon MAY have implied that our Black President is a monkey.

Tyson Chandler Struck By Thunder

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Tyson Chandler was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder this afternoon for Chris Wilcox, J. Smith and draft rights to Hardin. This will be Chandler's second move this decade after being traded from the Chicago Bulls in 2006. Chandler has not posted any feelings or any knowledge of this trade on his website. Sources have checked his Twitter page only to find out that he was "sunburned and bucked off a horse" LOL. Best of luck to you with the Thunder, Tyson.

Young Scolla of USR brings the heat on his latest mixtape. This is NOT another Hood Tracks Anthem as so many Detroit Artists put out on mixtapes. Young Scolla has put thought and effort into each one of his songs. The difference between this mixtape and other artists I have heard is the depth and variety. Original beats, guest appearances and quality vocals make it seem more like an album; a finished product rather than an attempt to hustle by making a couple tracks in someone's basement. The project has more ups than downs. Tracks including, Dont You Know; Like Me and Dreams to Reality are radio ready hits and Infatuation ft.K-Bunz is byfar my favorite thanks to a familiar sample. Scolla braves the waters of singing WITHOUT Autotune. That alone deserves its own praise, but this isnt about my vendetta against the machine. Bottom line is this is a good album and I like it. The track by track rundown puts this piece of work above average. Job Well Done Sir Scolla.

Pittsburgh STEALERS

Thursday, February 5, 2009

That was not a typo. The Pittsburgh Steelers stole the Vince Lombardi trophy from the Arizona Cardinals this year. All hope was lost for the Cards at halftime. the score was 17-7 and a lineman had just completed the longest TD score in Superbowl history in the final 3 seconds. Why not quit? two reasons. One Kurt Warner's hot wife in the stands praying; Two Larry Fitzgerald is on your team. Hold on the the dreads and let him take you along for the ride. With 2:34 left in the fourth Arizona had won the Superbowl. A Larry Fitz Slant-route and a self-induced turbo button made the score 23-20. But the inexperience of rookie conerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie would lead to the game's deciding play. Santonio Holmes had not one but two opportunitues to crush the Cards' dreams. Now IMHO, a cover man in the NFL or at any level in man to man coverage is suppose to know you cannot let the fastest man on the field, whom already has 8 catches for 125 yards, get behind you. Rodgers-Cromartie and two other Cardinal defenders forgot this Cardinal Rule(no pun intended) on both sides of the field, the only difference is on the right side Holmes caught the ball. Final score in favor of the Steelers 27-23. What a game. There is some good to be drawn from this. With the Steeler win that officially makes My Favorite NFL team the San Diego Chargers COCs (Casualties of the Champs), meaning their playoff loss has little meaning, when taking into consideration they lost to the eventual Superbowl Champions, they do not suck as hard. Its something about the American opinion that changes when they find out you've lost to a historic team or individual. When "no name" boxers would fight the likes of Ali, Holyfield; Tyson and lose their losses never really count as losses because peolpe always say, "It was against so-and so.", then they proclaim that the loser is the "next-big-thing" (Michael Spinks) So no fear Chargers this loss only makes you the one of the frontrunners for Lombardi hoisters next season.

My Qualifications/Upcoming Artists

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Well, since this is a music blog and i am an expert, i should explain my credentials. Afterall if i want my opinion to be valued I should have some credibility and expertise in my field.

First off, Welcome to my blog, and thank you for visiting. I'd like to state that i have been a lover of music all my life. Before i could speak I would hum songs from the radio. My mother told me storys of how I would analyze a songs lyrics and explain my interpretations to her then make suggetions of how they could be better; all this before my 4th birthday. My uncle was a Motown singer. He had a few hits locally, his brother; my other uncle was an underground rapper. My cousin is a Gospel singer, my aunt was in a nationally acclaimed varsity chorus in High School and I have quite a few friends in the music industry who value my opinions.

Now that that is out of the way; artists i feel are on the rise.

First up on this list is a gentleman i have known for many years. He has earned my respect as an artist for his fresh approach to rap music. His style is unique and his flow is smooth as butter. Young Scolla of USR/BSE, his own record label, can be heard on the radio, in clubs, and on quite a few ipods. He is a rapper originally from Memphis but claims the Detroit Hip-Hop uprising. And i will not be the only one to say, We are glad to have you Sir Scolla.
Next up, some really nice guys from Inkster, MI. Singing sensations, The Twins, recieved national attention for making it to "Hell Week" on American Idol Season 5. With the release of an upcoming album they should more than surpass their efforts to stardom. Delay is a soultry R&B voice with introverted delivery in his lyrics the other half of the duo, J-Rock is a smooth pop crooner, that loves to dance and keep you entertained. This combination only spells out one thing for the ladies Sexy and Cool.

And what kida promoter would i be if I didnt ring my own bell. The Civil Lycist,CEO Label Liason Yung Savage and SENT Records presents D Dibbs™. Dibbs has been filling books and books with ideas and songs for about a year and its time for him to shine. His album is scheduled to release in 2010 and he'd like to keep all the tracks a surprise but one has already been leaked onto Myspace. Teaming with fellow SENT artist Collin Collab, "She Eyin Me" was posted to the site. Check out all of my reccommendations I know you'll love 'em.

I give

Monday, January 19, 2009

I have never been a flip flopper. I have never been a traitor. Nor have i ever changed my mind on things when i am wrong; i'm pretty stubborn. So i make that disclaimer to state that i am jumping on the bandwagon of the Arizona Cardinals whom IMO will win the SuperBowl on February 1st. Every year i have the high expectation which has devolved in to hope that the San Diego Chargers will get their act together and win the SuperBowl. After Several years of frustions early exits and underachieving I have decided to root for the team i have been playing with on Madden since 05. I have always admired the Cardinals for their spandex jersey's no homo the uniform is just sweet. I also found it nice to have a veteran QB in Kurt Warner with two talented recievers and a pro bowl type running back. I have never lost a game of Madden with the cardinals so with my team being out of playoff contetion why not root for the winner in my book.

Arizona Cardinals 24 Pittsburgh Steelers 16.

Bold prediction form D Dibbs

DAMN...You should have wore PowderBLUE!!!

Thursday, January 15, 2009

It is with the utmost and sincerest regret that i am forced to announce that this year's AFC Championship game will NOT feature, My favorite NFL Team the San Diego Chargers. It was a hard fought battle this past weekend... who am i kidding they got blewout. The score was 35-17 deep into the fourth quarter; at which point i tossed my bowl of Tostitos at the television and Boo'd loudly hoping my echo would carry to somewhere near Pittsburgh. The Chargers made one last futile effort at a comeback when the Steelers let them add to their low point total on what would be their final posession(another thing they had very few of). The Chargers were held to just ONE, that's right, one(uno, un, 1) posession in the 3rd quarter. Pittsburgh ran out the clock and sealed their dual with Ravens on Sunday. IN OTHER news The NFL marketing team must be overjoyed with the 75% chance of an ALL BIRD Superbowl. The Ravens and Eagles, have been to Bowls this decade the Cardinals are the rookie bird, which amazingly coincides with each teams' real-life mascot. You've got the wise cunning Eagles led by the Cunning Vet QB D.McNabb; The Mysterious, Savage Ravens anchored by Ray Lewis and a wily defense both more experienced than The Suprising Cardinals that succeed with an old head in Kurt Warner and youthful frame Boldin and Fitgerald, Mostly Fitzgerald.

21:03 is NICE

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Yo I was recently turned onto the gospel music tip. A lot of people sleep on the gospel artists because they feel that song and praise dont mesh. Or they feel it isn't interesting. Well I challenge you to listen to the group 21:03 and see if your mind isn't changed. Things were rough at first. Handpicked by production supergroup PAJAM from hundreds of candidates during a casting call in their native Detroit, then-hopefuls Evin Martin, Torrence Greene, and Jor’el Quinn were three strangers chosen on the basis of their faith, as well as their singing and dancing abilities. I attended High School with one of the members of this group and I can assure you these guys are the real deal. They truly live and preach the Word they believe in. and I believe they have the tools for success. Give them a listen and hit me back on the blog to tell me what you think.
